I remember being in maths class, probably 14 and not really being able to see the board. I went for an eye test and then another a test and I think I was probably 15 when I started to become properly reliant on them for everything at school. From 19 onwards, I wore solely contacts and I’d wear glasses if I was in the house and if I was watching TV. I remember taking glasses out to a nightclub once because I had no contact lenses and putting the glasses on and people not recognising me at all... like completely not recognising me!
I think people were starting to talk about it Laser Eye Surgery and places like Optilase were starting to talk about it. I remember seeing some of the ads and thinking this sounds very straightforward. I started looking into it at the start the month and by the end of the month I had been in for the consultation and had already had it done. It was a really straightforward and quick process at Optilase.
I've always said the same thing to people, and I would say the same thing to younger me... just go and have a conversation and you'll know if it's right for you. It was very quick between me going to the consultation and me realising I wanted to have Laser Eye Surgery.
